Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a fat-soluble compound required for mitochondrial ATP synthesis. CoQ10 functions as an antioxidant in cell membranes and lipoproteins and has anti-inflammatory properties. Tissue levels of CoQ10 can decline with age and cholesterol-lowering medications may affect circulating levels of CoQ10. CoQ10 may support cardiovascular function by impacting heart muscle function, blood pressure, and endothelial function.
