NUTRAscriptives® Sleep Additional Support is a blend inspiring restorative sleep via the multiple mechanisms of its distinct ingredients.
Melatonin is a hormone synthesized from the amino acid tryptophan, and naturally secreted in a circadian rhythm to help regulate the body's sleep/wake cycle. Additionally, magnesium is a mineral known to modulate sleep and stress, promoting levels of both melatonin and GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid).
GABA is the primary sleep-inducing neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, naturally inducing sedation. L-Theanine is an amino acid found in green tea that can increase levels of GABA, helping to regulate sleep. Studies suggest it may reduce feelings of mental stress by enhancing serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain. In combination, these can improve sleep quality and duration.
Valerian root and passionflower extract are herbs known to positively impact sleep quality. Other plant-based nutraceuticals like chamomile induce drowsiness and may encourage a calming, restful state. 5-HTP is used by the body to make serotonin, and it can provide support for sleep, mood, and headaches. *
